¿Qué Debo Hacer Si Tengo Un Accidente De Auto?

What Should I Do If I Have A Car Accident?

When we have a car accident, everything can seem very confusing at that moment and it can even seem that many things are happening at the same time, which causes us to lose focus on the important details that we must take into account. Here we share what you should do after having a car accident:

1. Make sure everyone involved is okay: If necessary, call an ambulance so that those involved can receive professional medical attention if they need it.

2. Call the Police: Don't assume that you can reach an agreement with the other person involved in the accident. It is important to notify the police since they will make the corresponding accident report that will later be necessary for the insurance claim.

3. Take photos of the entire accident scene: If the type or location of the accident allows, try to take photos of everything. This may include the position of the cars before they were moved, damage to the car, and the general location of the accident. This will be very useful for the investigation and resolution of the case.

4. Make sure the police officer gives you a case number: On some occasions, the police will not give you a physical report, but a case number with which you must claim the accident report. This report can be obtained online or by going to a police station. The report is very important when you initiate a claim with the company. It has all the information of the facts, data of the people involved, insurance information and details that will determine who was guilty which establishes who is responsible for the damages.

5. Call your insurance agent and let him know what happened: Your insurance agent will ask you some questions to help you know what the steps are to follow and how you should proceed in case you have to initiate a claim for physical injury or damage to your vehicle.
