Stay Protected While Driving for Uber or Lyft
If you work as a rideshare driver for companies like Uber, Lyft, or similar platforms, your personal auto insurance does not fully cover the commercial use of your vehicle. That’s why at Calidad Insurance, we offer specialized Rideshare Insurance to ensure you’re protected at every stage of your trip.
Whether you drive part-time or full-time, adding Rideshare Coverage is essential to prevent policy cancellations and fill the coverage gaps your personal auto policy may leave behind.
We proudly offer Rideshare Insurance at all of our locations in Georgia and South Carolina, including cities like Atlanta, Marietta, Norcross, Duluth, Spartanburg, and Greenville.
What is Rideshare Insurance?
Rideshare Insurance is an optional add-on to your personal auto policy that extends coverage when you’re using your car to earn income through platforms like Uber or Lyft.
This coverage protects you during Period 1, when you’re waiting for a ride request and not yet matched with a passenger. Most personal auto policies exclude commercial activity, and companies like Uber or Lyft provide minimal or no coverage during this stage.
Rideshare Coverage Explained by Driving Periods
To fully understand the value of this insurance, you need to know the four driving stages and how coverage applies in each:
Period 0 — Offline
You’re not using the rideshare app.
– Your personal auto insurance provides coverage.
Period 1 — App On, Waiting for a Ride
You’re available and waiting for a passenger request.
– Uber/Lyft provide minimal liability coverage to third parties only.
– No coverage for your injuries or your vehicle unless you have Rideshare Insurance.
Period 2 — Ride Accepted, Driving to Pick Up
You’ve accepted a request and are on your way to pick up the passenger.
– Uber/Lyft provide full liability, collision, comprehensive, and uninsured motorist coverage (if your personal policy includes it).
Period 3 — Passenger Onboard
You’re transporting a passenger to their destination.
-Same coverage as Period 2 applies.

• Extend protection during Period 1
• Avoid high out-of-pocket costs if you’re hit while waiting for a ride
